Lab Testing

IgG Food Allergy Testing (Blood Draw)

Food sensitivity is a term that usually refers to delayed immune reactions to foods.  There are many clinical benefits of eliminating IgG reactive foods from your diet. IgG food sensitivities have been implicated in migraine headaches, eczema, anxiety/depression, joint pain and irritable bowel syndrome (alternating diarrhea and constipation).  Bloating and indigestion are also common food sensitivity reactions, as is fatigue.  Continued consumption of reactive foods may contribute to weight gain and/or difficulty losing weight. IgG food reactions are delayed and can take up to 48 hours to present, which makes it difficult to determine which food is responsible for the reaction without doing testing.

  •  120+ IgG foods (non-vegetarian) or 200+ IgG foods
  • 160+ IgG vegetarian foods
  • extra Candida

Elevated IgG antibodies to Candida are often found when someone has a fungal infection of some sort. For example, vaginal yeast infection, ‘jock itch’, and ringworm.  Consuming too many sugar-rich foods can contribute to overgrowth of Candida.  Symptoms associated with Candida overgrowth include:

  • clouded thinking
  • depression
  • diarrhea
  • fatigue
  • menstrual pain
  • vaginal yeast infections
  • headaches

Salivary Hormone Testing

Women of any age can be affected by hormone issues.   Women who still have menstrual cycles may experience infertility, premenstrual syndrome, mood swings, anxiety, painful periods and other symptoms as a result of hormone imbalance.  Women in peri-menopause and menopause often experience debilitating sleep disturbances, night sweats, hot flashes, accelerated bone loss and many other symptoms related to hormone changes.   Other conditions associated with hormone imbalance include:

  • weight gain
  • depression, irritability, difficulty coping
  • bone loss
  • breast cancer

Saliva hormone testing is simple, accurate, and easily obtained. The following are the hormones tested with 1 up to 4 salivary collections.

  • Estrogen
  • Progesterone
  • DHEA
  • Testosterone
  • Cortisol

Month Long Female Hormone Assessment

This salivary hormone assessment provides information to help uncover the source of cycle-specific symptoms. Some symptoms associated with hormone imbalance in the menstrual cycle include:

  • heavy bleeding
  • fertility issues
  • mood swings
  • migraine headaches
  • hot flushes

A month-long assessment requires the collection of eleven saliva samples over 33 days.  Progesterone and estradiol are reported for all 11 samples along with an average testosterone.

Thyroid Assessment

Many suffer with symptoms of hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism even after a normal TSH- but many other tests can be abnormal confirming the patient’s symptoms.

1)Full Thyroid Panel by Lifelabs: TSH, Free T4, Free T3, TPO, Anti-thyroglobulin, Reverse T3

2) Thyroid Panel by Lifelabs: TSH, Free T4, Free T3, TPO (thyroid antibodies)

3) Iodine Plus urine test: Iodine, Selenium, Bromine and Cadmium test.

Mineral and Heavy Metal Analysis (Hair or Urine)

Good health depends in part on having adequate amounts of essential nutritional elements, and low levels of toxic elements.  Hair element analysis shows nutrient status (essential elements) and toxic element exposure for the length of time it took to grow the hair supplied for testing (usually about three months).  Whereas, urine is a look at very current status.

Essential elements are essential because they are needed to maintain health.  For example, potassium and sodium are essential for proper heart function, while calcium and magnesium are essential for bone development. Toxic elements usually cause damage by taking the place of essential elements and interfering with their usual function.  For example, calcium helps strengthen bone, but lead can take the place of calcium in bone, making bone more porous and less sturdy.
